Fall weather finally arrives

It's not cold yet, but the rain is here. Tonight it is pouring, we are supposed to get half an inch. It's also very windy, with sustained 10 mph winds and gusts of 35 that are expected to reach 50 or 60 mph later tonight. This is normal fall weather for up here.

This picture was taken at about 5 pm a few days ago...

and this was the same time the next day. You could say the weather fluctuates.

As you scope out chicken coop (not coup...) designs, let me know which way you're leaning. I'll come help you build it. Even have supplies - waterers, feeders, etc. Oh, and an incubator too - might as well start from eggs!

Ok - great!

I like some of the ideas from this design (the egg collection and nesting boxes, mostly), but I would go bigger, large enough to go inside easily. I have been reading about deep litter floors (basically, piling up 12" of plant litter and letting the chickens go through it and "compost" it), and need to figure out if I am going to fully free range, or moveable electric netting fence...plus there are the dogs to consider.

I like the looks of those coops. The egg gathering part is particularly clever.
